Lew with Industry Leaders in Mumbai U.S. Treasury Secretary met top business leaders prior to bilateral meetings in Delhi with the Indian Government under the aegis of the U.S-India Economic & Financial Partnership Dialogue   Mumbai, Maharashtra, India The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC) co-hosted a roundtable discussion with the Honorable Jacob J. Lew, Secretary, United States Department of the Treasury today on the sidelines of the U.S.-India Economic and Financial Partnership Dialogue on Thursday.   This exclusive gathering allowed for a frank discussion between some of India’s key business leaders and Secretary Lew on the global and Indian economy and business climate, with a focus on policies to propel manufacturing, infrastructure, and investment growth in both countries.   Secretary Lew said, "When the President visited last month, he noted that our two business communities have been some of the strongest champions for a closer U.S.-India relationship, and I absolutely agree.  The entrepreneurial spirit, vibrant private sectors, and commitment to economic growth and job creation are the cornerstones of the U.S.-India economic relationship." The Secretary’s trip to Mumbai marks the first Cabinet level visit after the successful visit of U.S. President Barack Obama to India last month.   In his welcome remarks, Mr. Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group; Board Member of USIBC and CII Past-President said, "At this critical time of revival in the Indian economy, now more than ever a strong economic & financial partnership with the United States is critical for ensuring vibrant growth and success in both countries.
