Corporate Badminton League(CBL), the brand owned by Hyderabad’s Shikhara Events to take India’s first National Inter-corporate Badminton Tournament to national.
With over 450 Corporate Badminton players participating from 108 corporates such as Microsoft, TCS, Cognizant, KPMG, Invesco, Tech Mahindra, Qualcom, Cyient, Capgemini, HSBC, Polaris, the second edition was of CBL was a huge success recently. The organizers are overwhelmed by the response and plan to take it to national in phased manner.
The first edition saw participation of over 70 companies from across India and 450 enthusiasts participated in it. This year the participation from number of companies has gone up.
In the words of Aditi Reddy Defending Champion of Women’s Singles, who works with Cognizant, it is the most soughtafter tournament for which we have been eagerly looking forward to. Virender Moudgil of Infosys who clinched Men’s Singles this year as well as the previous year felt the same as Aditi Reddy. It is sporting activity which we have been eagerly looking forward to. Even the prize money offered comes as a great incentive, he said.
To begin with we will reach out to Bangalore and Chennai. Subsequently we want to go to Noida, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahemdabad and many such promising cities informs Sirisha Sripada of Shikara Events.
The just concluded second edition which was held at Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy in Hyderabad was supported Cyient, a Hyderabad based major company. It has witnessed participation from across the country. which gave us confidence that the time is ripe to take the Tournament National said, Sirisha.
The participation in CBL is open to all non-seeded individuals working in the Indian corporate sector, the league features men's and women's singles, doubles and mixed doubles championships. And the tournament has the backing of Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy.
Badminton as a sport is played by one and all. It can be played everywhere. It ranks in top sports in the world said Sirisha. It is the best activity for the “work life” balance, she said. The Tournament which made humble beginning with the blessing of Pullela Gopichand two years ago is now has become the most admired sporting event by the corporate in India.
