For those who missed out doing something green on Earth Day on April 22nd, or those who want to support a green cause, Sakhi Fashions gives you the perfect reason to shop. Sakhi has announced a green initiative whereby whenever customers purchase anything from one of the Sakhi stores, a percentage of the sale proceeds with go towards planting saplings. Sakhi has tied up with ‘Grow-Trees’ organization for this initiative.
Sakhi’s in store collection is an effortless embodiment of elegance, featuring a variety of exclusive designs served on an extensive platter of creations. Sakhi’s mother-daughter duo, Chandra and Neeta, find inspiration for many of their designs from nature. Among the items in the collections that are nature-inspired are gorgeous saris featuring floral cutwork embroidery, Kalamkari peacock motifs, woven zari leaves or paisley block prints.
Nature plays an important role in our lives, and both traditional and modern design often replicates elements from it. The Sakhi collection incorporates nature-inspired designs to suit the style of the modern Indian woman, who plays numerous roles and yet is rooted to her own identity. The designs are created with the intention of making the saree stay relevant for years to come, and enabling the modern day women to embrace it and wear it with ease, whether she is at a business meeting or planning the menu for the week at home.
“At Sakhi, we work towards preserving ancient Indian crafts, many of which use natural and environmental friendly techniques, besides having a strong identity of nature in its motifs and designs,” said Designer Chandra. “This inspired us to do our bit for draping the world green, and there’s no better time than Earth Day for doing this.”
Customer can contribute to this green initiative by walking into any of the Sakhi Stores at Indiranagar, Jayanagar or Sadashiv Nagar at Bangalore or at the Banjara Hills store, Hyderabad and purchasing the designer ethnic wear or accessories so that they can help make the world a greener place. The Earth Day celebration at Sakhi stores will continue until 30th April 2014.
About Sakhi Fashions
Sakhi is a niche boutique run by mother-daughter duo, Chandra and Neeta. Since its first exclusive boutique was established in August, 2005, over the years, Sakhi has built a loyal clientele that is passionate about the uniqueness of its collections, which have perfected the art of combining traditional fabrics and craftsmanship with contemporary themes to create an ensemble that embodies the values of the modern Indian woman.
The exclusivity of Sakhi’s creations is in a rare mix and match of fabrics in each garment, such as Korvai sarees with a body made of pure handloom cotton with a pure silk border. This merger of different base fabrics is regarded as a path-breaking initiative in the handloom weaving industry. Similarly, the ‘partly pallu’ is a ‘concept saree’ with the pleats, pallu and blouse in contrast to the rest of the saree, while the ‘rising concept’ saree is diagonally divided and shows a gradual play of colour when draped.
Always a step ahead of trends in the niche boutique space, Sakhi has recently launched an exclusive online store, www.sakhifashions.com, to keep pace with the rapid growth of e-commerce in India and worldwide. This online store has enabled Sakhi in broadening its client base by traversing boundaries with ease. In the short span of its operation in cyberspace, Sakhi has drawn customers from key geographies like the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka and Malaysia, to name a few.
