Messe Frankfurt brings Wastetech – The Answer to the World's most Debatable Subject of Waste Disposal and Management – to India

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Messe Frankfurt India is proud to announce the launch of Wastetech India 2014 with a vision to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of urban waste disposal on the environment and bring waste management and recycling technology to the forefront of the India market.

Scheduled to be held from 10 – 12 September 2014 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, Wastetech India will cover a broad range of products and services for industries associated with solid waste management, recycling and resource efficiency services, technology and solutions. The show aims to bring together innovations in recycling and waste management, machinery and equipment, vehicles, plant containment and handling equipment and attract professionals from the public and private sector, seeking solutions for effective waste disposal, reutilisation and management.

Garbage management is a serious problem despite the fact that the largest part of municipal expenditure is allotted to it. There is no system of segregation for organic, inorganic and recyclable wastes at the household level. One of the key focus areas for Wastetech India will be to provide practical solutions and alternate systems for solid waste management, befitting the city infrastructure and urban lifestyle.

Wastetech India will be instrumental in bringing town planners, municipal commissioners and monitoring authorities together to identify affordable and sustainable technical innovations for local governing bodies, as well as drive its widespread adoption in public and private sectors.

Mr. Amiya Kumar Sahu, President, National National Solid Waste Association of India (NSWAI) said: “Municipal solid waste management is one of the major environmental problems of Indian cities. We are looking forward to the technologies that will be showcased at Wastetech India and hope to identify corrective measures that can be applied for urban waste management, suitable to today’s times.”

Waste Management in India is still in the development stage, with both urban and industrial waste set to grow dramatically over the next few years, while the solid waste management industry is expected to witness an annual growth rate of 7% from 2011 – 2015.

Mr. Raj Manek, Managing Director, Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India comments: “The India market offers immense opportunities to private sector professionals to create resource management business models and set up recycling facilities. We are confident that Wastetech India will bring the decision-makers together to facilitate identifying long-term sustainable solutions for urban development.”

With the company’s successful history of hosting global trade fairs such as Water Expo China, Canadian Waste & Recycling Exp, Eco Expo Asia and Building Solar China, the introduction of Wastetech India in 2014 will further cement its position as the leading exhibition organiser for ‘Green Industry’ professionals.

Wastetech India will be concurrently-held with three other shows organised by Messe Frankfurt - Cleantech India, Pollutech India and the highly-anticipated third edition of Watertech India. Together, these four shows will cover the complete chain of green technologies for Waste, Water, Pollution and Energy Management.
