Alfa Laval announces the extension of its broad range of modular mixproof valves with the Alfa Laval Unique Mixproof Large Particle (LP) Valve and the Alfa Laval Unique Mixproof Horizontal Tank (HT) Valve. The Alfa Laval Unique Mixproof LP Valve overcomes the challenges of handling highly viscous process fluids and large particles up to 45 mm in size. The Alfa Laval Unique Mixproof HT Valve, when mounted on the tank side, provides 100% drainability and cleanability of the tank plug, seat area and the shadow areas around the tank connection; this cleanability is unmatched by any comparable mixproof valve available today. Both valves are designed to increase uptime and productivity as well as to reduce utilities and spare parts consumption, thereby improving overall plant performance.
With the addition of the Alfa Laval Unique Mixproof LP Valve and the Alfa Laval Unique Mixproof HT Valve, Alfa Laval extends its proven range of Unique Mixproof Valves for use in hygienic processing lines, providing plant owners and operators with enhanced operational reliability and plant designers with greater flexibility.
“With these two new valves, we have adapted our proven Unique Mixproof Valve technology for large-particle handling and obtained unmatched cleanability when mounting a mixproof valve on the side of a tank,” says Morten Rose Vilholm, Global Portfolio Manager, Valves, Sanitary Equipment, Alfa Laval.
Improved handling of large particles: The Alfa Laval Unique Mixproof LP Valve
Designed to handle highly viscous products or fluids containing large particles, the Alfa Laval Unique Mixproof LP Valve with its 75-mm stroke allows the passage of particles up to 45 mm in size, making it ideal for handling products such as mayonnaise or cheese curd.
Outstanding flexibility with 100% cleanability: The Alfa Laval Unique Mixproof HT Valve
When mounted on the side of a tank, the new Alfa Laval Unique Mixproof HT Valve is the first of its kind to ensure 100% cleanability of the tank plug, seat area and the shadow areas around the tank connection.
“The Alfa Laval Unique Mixproof HT Valve represents a major advance in mixproof valve technology,” says Vilholm. “Outstanding flexibility is made possible due to the valve’s capability to be mounted on the side of a tank and yet be able either to clean the process line all the way to the tank wall or clean the tank plug and tank connection, leaving no trace of residues that pose the risk of contamination.”
This is made possible by a double-acting CIP (Cleaning-in-Place) nozzle, which is integrated into the valve. Self-cleaning is also possible for tanks with isolated walls. In addition, when mounted in the bottom of a flat-bottomed tank, the valve ensures complete drainability. Available in four sizes, the 4" and 6" versions are capable of handling large particles up to 45 mm in size.
The Alfa Laval Unique Mixproof LP Valve and Unique Mixproof HT Valve are built on the same Alfa Laval Unique Mixproof Valve platform. All spare parts are, to some extent, therefore interchangeable with the Unique Mixproof Valve range; this makes the two valves maintenance-friendly and optimizes spare parts inventory.
