The IP Leadership Forum 2014 Concludes Initiating a New Debate on Intellectual Property
Convened around 200 Intellectual Property specialists to analyse the world of IPR strategy & reaffirm its objective to transform India into an innovative economy with possible global synergies

New Delhi, Delhi, India

The capital today concluded a comprehensive three-day convention ‘The IP Leadership Forum 2014’, conceptualized and organized by IP Fame – an Intellectual Property specialists' group in association with Lex Witness - India’s first Magazine on Legal and Corporate Affairs. The summit saw an impressive participation of both national and international IP professionals getting into an in-depth dialogue on Intellectual property (IP) challenges being faced by diverse sectors in India.

IP Leadership Forum stretched over 7th – 9th January 2014 and included various group sessions as well as panel discussions with a single key focus i.e. ‘Promoting respect for Intellectual Property and stimulating creation of IP Rights’. More than 90 speakers and 100 delegates who became a part of this congregation at the end echoed together on the requirement and importance of a strong and balanced IP system to foster an environment which is conducive for development of technology and trade in India and ensuring long-term economic survival and success.

The increasing significance of intellectual property in the backdrop of a progressively globalized and optimistic Indian economy has in chorus placed greater strain on the IP institutional arrangement. A boost in foreign investment and trade has already accelerated the demands of producers and R&D departments of Pharma industries to seek exclusive rights over technology, products, designs and ideas as an indispensable tool for gaining access in competitive markets.

Sharing his thoughts on the success of IP Leadership Forum, Navin Agarwal, CEO, IP Fame said, “I am glad on the response that we have received from the global as well as regional leaders working in the field of IP and its security. It has boosted our pledge towards the awareness on Intellectual Property as a concept and we shall continue to come up with more such knowledge sharing platforms aimed to successful commercialization of IP.”

Commenting on the take-home message from IP Leadership Forum, Shyam Grover, Group Editor & CEO, Lex Witness said, “IP Leadership Forum came out to be a great opportunity to understand the growing IP culture worldwide and for us, India, it attested that to scale up the process of IP establishment and capture value from the scientific and technological creations to bring India in the league of developed nations remains a challenge to be addressed as efficiently as possible.”

PBA SrinivasanEditor-in-Chief, Lex Witness said, “IP Leadership Forum was a well thought-out dialogue between the East and West of the world and it surely resulted in a lot to ponder upon for modernization of IPR administrative structure. I congratulate all the participants for their valuable support.”
