Convergence of Professional and Personal Lives - BYOD to Enable and Drive the Mobility Market In India - Notes Frost & Sullivan

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Thursday, July 11, 2013 -- (Business Wire India) -- Frost & Sullivan successfully hosted its 2nd Annual India Enterprise Mobility Summit 2013 in New Delhi and Mumbai. This year, the two-city summit witnessed a convergence of industry players who discussed the key trends, challenges and business benefits of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), and provided a platform for end users and diverse ecosystem participants to devise strategic solutions to shape the future landscape of embracing this technology.

In India, the enterprise mobile email market dominates the current landscape of enterprise mobility as it is considered the first step towards mobility and many enterprises start their mobility journey with mobile email. But in the future, growth can be witnessed in the Core Business Applications (CBA) and Machine to Machine (M2M) market, which are experiencing significant traction. Frost & Sullivan anticipates that the mobile email market will grow at a CAGR of 15 percent by 2018. The CBA market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 34 percent and M2M services at 35 percent by 2018, which illustrates the momentum behind more workflow mobilization and growing awareness in enterprises.

Providing a perspective on the factors driving the mobility market, insights into various ecosystem participants, and the impact of BYOD, Ms. Thejaswi Parameshwaran, Program Manager, ICT Practice, Frost & Sullivan said, "At Frost & Sullivan, we expect BYOD to drive the mobility market in India. BYOD is changing the dynamics of the Indian workplace as increasing number of employees seek convergence of their personal and professional lives. The benefits of adopting BYOD by enterprises include employee satisfaction and motivation, at the same time its flipside includes security dilution, data leakage, and minimal device control and management costs."

"By 2013, mobile workers will make up 35 percent of the worldwide workforce. The future will see an even further increase in workplace mobility", said Dr. Raj Kumar Sharma, Vice President - Sales, Arkadin ConferIndia (P) Ltd. He also added "People need solutions that enable them to work from anywhere, at any time, and from any device. Global mobility is the key to workforce effectiveness."

Mobility ecosystem participants need to work toward developing impregnable solutions to help enterprises manage the upcoming tide of BYOD without any hiccups. "Overcoming challenges and deploying BYOD would not only provide increased productivity and employee satisfaction, but also an increased competitive edge. Additionally, a robust and accommodating policy in this regard has the potential to attract dynamic and skilled human resources and aid in their retention by offering an improved work-life balance", added Ms. Parameshwaran.

The panel discussion at the Summit focused on the perspectives from key ecosystem participants, such as telecom service providers, application service providers, and end users. The discussion touched upon the necessity of BYOD in enhancing employee morale and productivity, and also some contemporary issues like security concerns, loss of control over devices and in-house/outsourcing costs involved. It was concluded that for an effective and enhanced BYOD uptake amongst enterprises, a robust solution portfolio needs to be developed by service providers to meet the dynamic needs of enterprises arising from BYOD.

Frost & Sullivan believes that an integrated end-to-end approach will be key to move forward, with end users and mobility service providers collaborating and becoming strategic partners. This would create a conducive environment enabling organizations to prepare for the next wave of BYOD.

Arkadin ConferIndia, Vodafone and Wipro Infotech supported the Summit as the Gold Partners. Meanwhile, the Media Partners who supported this Summit were - CXO Today, Light Reading India and Telecom Watch.
