Second Annual Retail Jeweller Trendsetter 2013
Experience India's design trends and jewellery fashion
Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Monday, March 04, 2013 -- (Business Wire India) -- Trends in jewellery have changed considerably throughout the history of time and much of this change has been gradual and a natural progression of the category. But in the present times the customers fashion sensibilities are evolving fast and it is becoming crucial for the industry to interpret these changes and create designs that are compelling.
Retail Jeweller India Trendsetters 2013 hosted at Grand Hyatt amongst glitz and glamour emerged as a platform where the industry unveiled collections comprising of quintessential Indian designs that elegantly blend our cultural influences with the global trends. Bollywood Diva Amrita Puri walked the ramp showcasing Azva's collection inspired by the Wedding Vows. The evening also saw almost the entire jewellery industry attend Trendsetters'.
Trendsetter- an annual retail and jewellery meet is in its second season. It's an industry initiative to research, analyze, understand and adapt to consumer trends. Formed under the IIJS wing last year, it had major jewellery giants as partners. The event was co-hosted by GJEPC and presented by World Gold Council and Forevermark.
As observed the strong trends ruling the design landscape are the Victorian look - uses of rose cut diamonds, polki and pearls blend to give a high sophistication imagery and rich ornamental look; the tribal inspired jewellery - designs with gold handcrafted techniques including beaten and hammered gold, distress and textured gold; geometric shapes in three dimensional concepts are introducing new ways of designing - strong, bold and unconventionality dominates this trend, usage of geometric solids, faceted geometry, deconstructed atoms and diamonds giving a perception of solidity, firmness and strength to the jewelry as well as the wearer; oversized jewellery which makes a definitive statement; green has been declared as the color of the year as per PANTONE, not to mention the stone itself has been a big hit on the red carpet for some time; rose gold too makes a come-back this season- rose gold in multiple hues gives a sublime effect to the designs.
Nine collections were launched at Trendsetters. They were COLOR ME GREEN, ROMANCING HERITAGE, PERCEIVED SOLIDITY, THREADS OF BANARAS, ORNAMETNTAL OPULENCE, NIZAM'S HERITAGE, AQUA FLORA, NATURE PRESERVATION and FLUID. The designs interpreted international trends to create jewellery that weaves a compelling story around it. These designs build mystique, rarity, emotional engagement and experience, around the product. And, hopefully these design collections, each with its own unique narration will heighten the consumer's experience of owning the ultimate piece of luxury.
The spectacular jewellery designs were complimented by equally well designed apparels. The Indian traditional apparel collections showcased at the Trendsetters Retail Jeweller India were designed by Sunil Das Gupta and the western apparel collections were designed by Asif Merchant.
