AOL CoolAge Partners with Milind Soman's Pinkathon
Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Wednesday, February 27, 2013 -- (Business Wire India) -- Looks like it's going to be a year dedicated to women. After the One Billion Movement, the next event to celebrate women is India's first ever 10k run for women, Pinkathon - Run to Lead, in Bangalore. After a tremendously successful event in Mumbai in December last year, Pinkathon is all set to inspire Bangaloreans to run for the cause of breast cancer.
Avid runner and fitness enthusiast Milind Soman has pioneered the movement, with an aim to spread awareness on breast cancer and educate people about the causes and prevention of this hugely under-publicized ailment. "Over the last few years, I have come to learn by experience the benefits of running as a perfect fitness regime. The reason we have chosen this event is because running addresses most of the top ten ways to help prevent breast cancer", he believes.
Pinkathon has joined hands with Women's Cancer Initiative led by Devika Bhojwani, who along with business icon Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, actress Priyanka Upendra, former international athletes Ashwini Nachappa and Reeth Abraham launched the registrations for the event for participants from across the country. Bangalore's most popular radio jockey, RJ Rapid Rashmi is the Mascot for the run.
Speaking on the occasion, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Chaiman and MD of Biocon Ltd., said "Breast cancer is a much neglected ailment in India, most women don't take it as seriously as they should; and events like the Pinkathon will only help make women more alert and aware of this disease".
The 10 km run will be held in Bangalore on April 7th, 2013 starting from Sree Kanteerava Stadium. Around 3000 women are expected to be part of this momentous occasion.
AOL CoolAge is joining hands with Pinkathon to promote the movement in colleges across Bangalore. So ladies, get ready to put on your running shoes and run for your health, because you too are important.
