RAYCON BULK Product Sorting System Finds the Invisible
X-ray technology removes optically undetectable contaminants from bulk food products

Schönberg, Germany, Wednesday, December 05, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- In the food industry, purity is mandatory, which is why food production and processing compa-nies have to guarantee purity. The new RAYCON BULK product sorting system from S+S Separation and Sorting Technology GmbH is specifically designed for the inspection of bulk materials and the removal of contaminants. Raw material purity eliminates danger to consumers, and prevents wastage of added value finished product.

S+S product manager Franz Penn comments on system advantages: "RAYCON BULK uses X-ray technology, which is particularly suited for applications where optical sorting systems, often used in the food sector, reach their limits, for example, where contaminants have the same col-our as good material. The main contaminants detected by RAYCON BULK system include met-als, stones, and glass. Metal particles embedded in products, dark stones in black pepper, stones that are coloured red by red paprika, or green glass fragments in green dried herbs, are examples of contaminants that are invisible to optical colour sorting machines, but are detected by the RAYCON BULK system."

Other performance features of the RAYCON BULK product sorting system:

-- Detection of contaminants as small as 0.6 mm.
-- Reject unit uses up to 20 mechanical flaps or 80 air-blast nozzles on an inspection width of up to 580 millimetres, minimising good material losses.
-- Real-time operating system permits timing with millisecond accuracy.
-- Intuitive, menu driven user interface for easy operation and set up.
-- High efficiency and minimum maintenance requirements..
-- Hygienic design allows easy cleaning and simple belt removal.

Franz Penn: "RAYCON BULK sorting systems are the result of decades of experience S+S has in the fields of food inspection and sorting technology. Using X-ray technology, RAYCON BULK also solves sorting tasks that cannot be managed by conventional colour sorting systems with camera technology."
