UAE Exchange Gifts Radio Sets to Blind Women


Kochi, Kerala, India, Monday, July 02, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- The Women's Forum of Kerala Federation of Blind and Ernakulam District Panchayath conjointly organised a two day fiesta for the visually challenged women on 27th and 28th June at Youth Hostel, Kakkanad, Ernakulam. The celebration was to commemorate the birth anniversary of Helen Keller, the founder of Helen Keller International - an NGO to prevent blindness and malnutrition.

Seminars, arts & sports competitions were conducted during the two days and more than 190 participants from different parts of Kerala convened for the celebration.

The valedictory function on 28th was attended by Mr Sudhakar R, Head-Business Development and Dr. Ashok Cherian Koshy, Head-Corporate Communication.

The striking part of the day was the call to donate Braille watches and Radios to the women. UAE Exchange sponsored Radio sets - as a gift to delight the ears of the eyeless. Ms V Bhadra Satheesh, Deputy Mayor, Corporation of Cochin distributed the radio sets to the participants.

In his speech, Dr. Ashok Cherian Koshy expressed his admiration of how watchful and caring God is to his creation and guards the differently abled. He said this while appreciating the sightless mothers who took utmost care of their children, despite their disabilities.
