3M and NABH Launch Program in India for Preventing Healthcare associated Infections and Promoting Quality of Patient Care
Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Monday, April 02, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- -- First workshop under Sterilization Assurance and Surgical Safety' program was organized in Ramaiah Hospital, Bangalore

3M India and NABH have launched 'Sterilization Assurance and Surgical Safety' program in hospitals to promote best practices & standards for preventing healthcare associated infections & promote quality of care for patients in India. This is the next step post the collaboration finalised between 3M India Ltd and NABH.
The first workshop in the series of 3M-NABH knowledge program was conducted on March 31, 2012 in Bangalore at M.S. Ramaiah Hospital. The workshop was conducted by leading experts on infection control area from various Bangalore hospitals. Under this program, 3M and NABH are planning to conduct a series of workshops related to prevention of healthcare associated infections like Surgical Site Infection (SSI) prevention, Sterilization Assurance, Care of IV Lines & Wound Management across major Indian cities in the next few months.
3M and NABH are planning to conduct 40 such workshops which will reach more than 1500 healthcare professionals from more than 100 hospitals across India.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Girdhar J. Gyani, Secretary General, Quality Council of India, and CEO, NABH said: "NABH accreditation is beginning to have desired impact in healthcare in terms of improving patient safety. There is need for Capacity building and hospitals are looking forward for facilitation so as to comply with 636-objective elements, provided in the NABH standards. These knowledge workshops by 3M & NABH are aimed at assisting the healthcare facilities in capacity building and will help in preventing & controlling infection related morbidity & mortality. In a way it will reduce the cost of care linked to healthcare-associated infections".
