Champions of 'My City My Parks' Set Out to Inspire Change PVR Cinemas to Screen Original Films created by Young Ambassadors


Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Wednesday, February 29, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- PVR Nest, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of PVR Cinemas, brings together 400 inspired children championing original ideas for creating a greener Mumbai at the first 'My City My Parks' grand finale event in Mumbai today. Bollywood celebrity Abhay Deol and other eminent personalities also attended the event to extend their encouragement to the children to become ambassadors of positive change in the community.

'My City My Parks' saw 400 children from 40 short listed schools undergo an extensive 100-day creative workshop on the issue of depleting urban greenery and learned to employ four creative forms - film making, theatre, photography and mural art installations - to bring their ideas to life. The workshop sessions were conducted by renowned personalities such as Paresh Mokashi, Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni, Sandeep Sawant, Sooni Taraporevala , Miriam Chandy, Chirodeep Chaudhury, Vaibhav Raj Shah, Kalyani Hiwale and many more, who also helped the children develop their ideas into original works.

The program was sponsored by Disney in India. A series of shortlisted original films made by the young ambassadors will be showcased at PVR Cinemas in India, reaching out to over 27 million patrons for a year starting April 1, 2012. Additionally, PVR Nest will tie-up these films for private and public screened at various children's film festival. The kids' mural art installations and photo essays will exhibited at the event are also complied in a 'My City My Parks' publication was also unveiled today. Additionally, two spectacular skits highlighting the repercussions of depleting urban greenery captivated audiences that attended the gala finale.
