SCMHRD's Annual B School Fest , NEEV 2011 - Living "The Fourth Quadrant"
One of the largest B School Fests in the Country

Pune, Maharashtra, India, Wednesday, December 14, 2011 -- (Business Wire India) -- The "House of Ideas" or "The Fourth Quadrant" which marked this year's NEEV, the flagship event at SCMHRD, was truly inspiring and was a spectacle to watch. The eve of NEEV 2011 saw the night sky at SCMHRD being lit up with a brilliant show of fireworks and troupe dancing to the beats and headlights of two white BMWs. The pace was thus already set for a thrilling event that lay ahead and the beginning of NEEV was marked with a cake cutting ceremony at the stroke of midnite amongst the junior and senior batches of the institute. As the day dawned, it spread its rays on the Symbiosis Infotech Campus which had donned a new avatar resplendent in the creative of "The Fourth Quadrant" ; the Glass House of Ideas in the atrium, the colourful flexes dotting the campus, the dark wall with sparks of hope and brilliance painted on the wall of the basketball court, the huge NEEV 2011 logo cutout at the gate, the smaller logos bobbing in the air as they hung from the ceiling everywhere and the lights all over the campus that accentuated the mood of NEEV for all the 3 days. The day opened with an inaugural ceremony in the auditorium with the Guest of Honour, Mr. Ravi Pisharody (President, Commercial Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors Limited), Chief Guest Mr. A S K Reddy (Chief Human Resource Officer, Airports, GMR Group), Managing Director of Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited Mr. A.K. Mittal,Mr.Sudhakar Reddy of Sathyam Cinemas, the Principal Director of Symbiosis SocietyMrs.VidyaYeravdekar and the institute's Director Prof. K.S.Subramanian.

The show was marked by a laser show on NEEV's theme which left everyone awestruck. It was followed by words of wisdom by our guests for the morning including Prof Subramanian, Subbu Sir as we call him, officially opening the event. The inaugural ceremony was immediately followed by the kick off round of Augustus which this year saw registrations from 450 B-school students from across the bes B-schools of the country. The final 10 who made it to the SCMHRD campus were from FMS, IIFT, MICA, SP Jain, SIBM, XLRI, NITIE and SCMHRD. It began with an elevator pitch on what made them eligible to become brand managers of Tata Nano and the round was judged by none other than Mr.Pisharody himself. As the day panned out there were business presentations on a formal event that had been sponsored by Tata Motors while others that saw Avalon Consulting and SHRM India as the Knowledge Partners. Avalon Consulting also offered a PPI to the participant of the winning team from MDI. Business events revolved around cases varying from product innovation, premium product marketing, recruitment strategy, mergers and acquisitions strategy to market entry strategy. A host of informal events were also rolled out during the daytime the prominent one being the Salsa workshop by Naach for all the wannabe dancers. During the course of the day the air was filled with beats as the drums workshop amused and entertained not only those who participated but also the by-standers. The connoisseurs were left sampling delicacies from the counters of Holiday Inn, Seven, Café Delicia, Felafel, Froguru, Café Chokolade, Domino's Pizza, Indian in a Box and PnB to name a few. With the sun going down on the first day, the scenes started changing to receive the electrifying Hard Core along with the soulful KshitijTarey and the rocking DJ Sa. The Red Bull jam set the notes right as the crowd became ready to increase their decibel levels for the evening that was going to be so memorable.TheSymbi campus of Hinjewadi was set into a groove all of a sudden with the colourful Pune crowd who had come down to watch the lady perform to numbers like "EkGlassy,Do Glassy" , "Move your body tonight" and "Chaarbajgaye".

The second day at NEEV started with promise of more fun and excitement as the students looked forward to loads of fun at paintball, zorbing, tattooing, twister and valley crossing. The business games as usual saw the clash of the mighty in an Operations and Entrepreneurship game while the thrill built up further in the rounds of Augustus, the hunt for India's best student manager, now left with only 8 contestants. The informals seduced the enthusiasts with "Mock the Rock" and "Balloon Burst" as pseudoism heightened with b-school grads mocking their favourite rock bands and the gymnasts trying their luck with the balloon hoola hoops. The talk show in the afternoon was an eblightening experience as a pep talk from TehseenPoonawalla, the entrepreneur and columnist, the younger one from the Poonawalla family set forth his message of transforming the nation to the young blood of Symbi. It was indeed a misfortune that the crowd missed hearing Mr. Eric Vas of Bajaj Auto Limited who had taken ill during that time. Mr.Poonawalla's pep talk was followed by the "always-with-his-wits-around" Papa Cj, the stand-up comedian who graduated from Oxford and has to his credit over a thousand shows all across the globe including few with Russel Peters! The day again hit the button where crowds started gathering for a performance by the legendary Sivamani, the Indian percussionist with international fame. The event had been jointly organised by Prayatna and Shapath, the two committes from SCMHRD and also this time the CSR partners of NEEV which seek to transform the lives of underprivileged children and prevent human trafficking respectively. The audience this time ranged from the hep crowd of Pune to the more sober people who have an ear for beats. The charisma spread all around as Sivamani made music out of anything available around him; water jars, suitcase and utensils, not to mention the entire gamut of instruments which he single handedly used to do what he does best! After his performance, the awe had just begun to rupture when the crowd gathered there were stunned by the very own home team of SCMHRD who flash-mobbed them. There was more to come, as promised, with Jive Wars, the choreography competition, where the teams from Delhi, Chennai, Coimbatore and Pune "danced" their battles on stage with each other. The sizzles went several notches higher with an SCMHRD team walking the ramp and closing the show. The team from Loyola Boys College Chennai was finally declared the winner by an eminent jury panel that had Sivamani as one of its members.

The third day of NEEV saw jury members from Pidilite Industries Limited driving down to Pune to adjudicate an event which they had sponsored. More and more youngsters enjoyed the Red Bull racing car simulator which had been put up for all the three days and which gave a real life thrill as a racing car driver to whoever sat behind the wheel. The day also witnessed an enthralling National Level Quiz competition - The Hindenburg Line, which invited students from among the best minds of the UG colleges from across the country. It was won by School of Law, Christ University, Bangalore. The day turned out to be an action packed one as teams scampered around the campus looking for clues to the treasure in a nail biting game of Treasure Hunt. Imagine the height of secrecy when the game had to end with a tie-breaker round the same evening to declare the winner. The afternoon finally saw the concluding round of Augustus which was judged by none other than Raghu of the MTV roadies fame and finally declared MansiArora of SP Jain as the winner of the whopping cash amount of INR 2 lakh for Augustus. The 3 day event witnessed a footfall of 8600 and it finally drew to a close with a vote of thanks from the director, Subbu Sir, to the team and finally to all the sponsors.
