Ipomo, RIM and Vodafone Announce Winners of the Aptitude Competition for Excellence (ACE 2011) in Bangalore
Winners awarded a scholarship worth Rs. 1 lac as well as a BlackBerry Smartphone

Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Monday, November 21, 2011 -- (Business Wire India) -- Ipomo, a leading mobile learning technology company, Research In Motion (RIM) and Vodafone today announced the winners of Aptitude Competition for Excellence (ACE 2011), a unique inter colligate test for engineering and management students in Bangalore and Mysore. The ACE 2011 program commenced from October 10th, 2011 and was conducted in 2 phases. Students from over 40 engineering and management colleges competed against each other using BlackBerry® smartphones to answer the test.

ACE 2011 comprised of 40 empanelled colleges from Bangalore and Mysore with 300 students per college.

Academic Competition for Excellence (ACE 2011)

Designed for BlackBerry smartphones, this innovative and paperless intercollegiate program was created specifically for management and engineering students. ACE 2011 program consisted of a module with 50 multiple choice questions which tested students' ability in various aptitude skills such as verbal, quantitative analysis, logical reasoning and general knowledge. Students had to answer the test in 60 minutes using BlackBerry smartphones that weredistributed to them. The scores were determined immediately and the top 3 scorers from each college qualified for the state level final. The 3 top scorers in the engineering and management stream respectively have each won a scholarship from RIM as well as other exciting prizes from Vodafone.

The test, a first of its kind and based on an application developed by Ipomo for BlackBerry smartphones, allows students to complete a mock test which is absolutely free and helps students prepare for competitive exams as a precursor to the real exams. Around 10,000 students competed against each other, culminating in the state final where the top 6 in engineering and management were awarded scholarships.

Dr.Thimmappa former Vice Chancellor of Bangalore University and a pioneer in the education system encouraged the initiative and expressed his support. "Technology plays a pivotal role in enhancing and enriching the education system. The ACE 2011 program is a step towards effectively utilizing the power of wireless technology to make competitive examinations transparent and efficient. It will also help students build speed and accuracy while attempting a competitive exam."

The Ipomo application and content is offered free with Vodafone subscriptions on BlackBerry smartphones, thus enabling students to compete with the best in their city.
