ACCMAN Organizes Mega Library Conference 2011
Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India, Tuesday, November 22, 2011 -- (Business Wire India) -- ACCMAN Institute of Management, Greater Noida, is a new-age B-School that concentrates on integration of knowledge and practice. Mega conferences organized by ACCMAN have been contributing effectively towards such integration alongside adding to the existing knowledge in various functional areas. Merely a fortnight after the National HR Conference, the institute organized a mega Library Conference on theme "Digital Library Management & Challenges" on 19th November 2011 in the institute auditorium, since digitization is not merely a trend but need of the day for the power of accessibility, compactness, durability, and utilization it provides. Inaugurating the conference as Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) K.P. Singh, Director Institute of Technology Banaras Hindu University and ex-Vice Chancellor V.B.S. Purvanchal University, Jaunpur, commended ACCMAN on the mega-level of conferences the institute has been organizing in various functional areas of management and even library. The theme of the conference, he complimented, was in consonance with the line of progression the field of Library & Information Science is advancing in. Conferences of ACCMAN have been bringing professionals of well established eminence. Prof. (Dr.) K.C. Sahoo, Head Library & Information Science, Dr. Harisingh Gour Central University, Sagar (M.P.), and the Guest of Honour, speaking at the occasion appreciated efforts of ACCMAN in bringing together library professionals from all over the country on a common platform. Through this conference he called upon all library professionals to continue working together to have a well integrated strong digital library system.
Welcoming the delegates Prof. (Dr.) D.S. Narban, Director, ACCMAN Institute of Management, set the tone of the conference as a platform for vibrant deliberations with a long-term perspective connected with Digital Libraries in the areas of forming a strong system of easily accessible storage, a robust universally acceptable one single system of classification, policies for 'preservation, privacy, security surveillance, open sources, and institutional repositories', and total quality management in management of digital libraries so as to be able to connect with top digital libraries of the world.
Best Library Conference of the last year as declared by LPA (Library Professionals Association) and organized by ACCMAN witnessed participation of 256 delegates, and release of a Conference Volume containing 60 papers. The trend of conferences in ACCMAN is ever rising. This year in the Library Conference as many as 304 delegated from all over the country enthusiastically participated coming from as far as Pune, Jhansi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Firozpur, Bareilly, Lucknow, and from institutions like Library and Resource Centre of Election Commission of India, UN Economic Commission for Africa, DU, Jiwaji Universiry, Teerthankar University, IIT, AIIMS, IGNOU, Makhan Lal Chaturvedi University, Lingayay's University, The Conference Volume released during the conference itself contained 102 papers selected for presentation in the technical sessions of the conference.
