Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, Tuesday, September 06, 2011 -- (Business Wire India) -- Great Lakes Institute of Management, a leading management institute, founded by Prof. Bala V Balachandran, hosted 'HR Conclave 2011' today. Dr. Ashok Chanda, Head - Strategy & Shared Services, GATI, delivered the presidential address at the Great Lakes Campus at Manamai. Mr. Satish Pradhan, VP - HR, TATA Sons gave the keynote address. Dr Ashok Chanda and Mr. Benedict Paramanand, Editor, ManagementNext Media & Publication released the Dr.C.K Prahalad Special Edition.

The HR Conclave is an annual event at Great Lakes since the year 2008. The theme for the event this year was - "And it's not just about work." The objective behind the same is to understand how enticing it would have been if ones job is not just about work, but about anything and everything that one would aspire from his career. After all it is said - "Find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life."

The speakers for the first panel discussion on - 'Developing and nurturing future leaders,' were Mr. Mr. Anand Bhaskar, VP - HR, Sapient; Mr. Mali Mahalingam, CPO, Symphony; Mr. Ashit Ranjan, VP - HR, Tecnova; and Mr. M.S. Venkatesh, Head - HR, Educomp.

Mr. Sebi Chacko, Head-HR, South Asia - Thomson Reuters, Mr. MVN Rao, VP - HR L&T Infotech, Mr. Chandrashekar Chenniappan, Country HR Manager, Hewlett Packard, Mr. Praveen Kamath, Head - Talent Acquisition, Wipro BPO, and Mr. Sukumaran Mariappan, Head-HR, Trimble India participated in the second panel discussion - 'Innovative Employee Engagement.'

The final discussion was on, 'Intrapreneurship and Thought Leadership'. Mr. Rajeev Menon, Director - HR, Cognizant, Mr. Manoharan M, Senior GM and Principal consultant, TCS, Dr Ravi, Head-HR, FSS participated in the same, which was moderated by Prof Venkat R Krishnan, Professor of Organizational Behavior and Academic Director of Great Lakes.

The valedictory addresses were given by Prof. Bala V. Balachandran, Founder & Dean, Great Lakes Institute of Management, and Mr. Chetan Tolia, Director, TATA Management Training Center, followed by a special address by Professor Venkat R Krishnan, Director-Yale Great Lakes Center of Management Research at Great Lakes.

Mr. Tolia and Professor S. Sriram, Executive Director - Great Lakes Institute of Management released "Gravity" - the Great Lakes Magazine.

Giving the keynote address via video conference, Mr. Satish Pradhan, VP - HR, TATA Sons, spoke on consumer confidence index, he said, "The highest consumer confidence is in India, so why worry about the rate of growth and GDPs in an emerging economy. There is a huge consumer pull in a country like India and China, which is now going to drive economic development."

Speaking on the occasion Prof. Bala V.
