naseba's 2nd Annual Women in Leadership Forum India 2011 to encourage more Indian Companies for top-management Gender diversity
Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Tuesday, August 16, 2011 -- (Business Wire India) -- As social values continue to change and with globalisation causing an influx of multinational corporations to India, more and more Indian women are now entering the workforce.
Western HR practices, such as gender diversity in leadership roles, are providing greater opportunities for women in management positions, and they are now entering professions in the corporate world previously only occupied by men.
India is a force in the global economy, with a high demand for their talent - and in particular educated women. Movement away from traditional views and stereotypes means there are increasing opportunities for Indian women in management. Despite promotion into senior management and executive positions remaining an uncommon occurrence, women have progressed in to management in a relatively short time.
"Although ever-evolving HR practices, diversity practices and factors like education have led to an increase in the number of women working in India, there is still a lot left to be done to develop, encourage and empower women for management positions," explained Hema Hattangady, Vice Chairman and CEO of Schneider Electric Conzerv India.
The Women in Leadership series is returning to Mumbai this October, and is hosting some of India's most successful business women. These include Sangita Singh, Senior Vice President, Wipro Technologies; Shahnaz Husain, Chairperson, Shahnaz Husain Group of Companies; Kanika Dewan, Group President at Bramco, and Uma Nambiar, Chief Executive Officer at Fortis Hospital.
CEO of Radio City 91.1 FM, Apurva Purohit, said: "We are really pleased to partner with an initiative which addresses key challenges affecting today's business women. Radio City as an organisation encourages gender diversity and ensures that 50 per cent of our senior managers are women. We believe that women bring in a unique management style."
This years' event features six key components that contribute to the success of the modern businesswoman, namely: Aspire, attribute, achieve, idea, incorporate and identity.
The two-day initiative is a cutting-edge platform for businesswomen from all backgrounds, industry sectors and countries around the world. It is taking place on October 13th - 14th 2011, and is organised and hosted by French business information group naseba.
"The Women in Leadership series provides a unique networking platform for dedicated and aspiring businesswomen. It is a global initiative with localised annual forums in India, Abu Dhabi, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Riyadh - combining both regional and international expertise - and is designed to cater for the specific development needs of businesswomen regardless of their location, background or culture," enthused the creator of the Women in Leadership series and CEO of naseba, Sophie Le Ray.
