Raju Vegesna Foundation Establishes a New Annadanam Complex in Tirumala, Tirupathi

Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India, Thursday, July 07, 2011 -- (Business Wire India) -- Her Excellency, The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Patil, today inaugurated a new annadanam complex in Tirumala. Established by the Raju Vegesna Foundation-a not for profit organization founded by Silicon Valley entrepreneur and Chairman of Sify Technologies, Raju Vegesna-this facility will be the largest of its kind in India, with a capacity to serve over 120,000 pilgrims every day.
Named, 'Mathrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba Nithyannadana Complex', this facility covers an area of 150,000 square feet and is located right behind the main temple complex in Tirumala. Every day, food will be served here for a minimum of 10 hours. About 6000 pilgrims can be served per batch and each batch would last about half hour.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Raju Vegesna, Founder of the Raju Vegesna Foundation, and Chairman & Managing Director, Sify Technologies, said, "This is indeed a momentous occasion for us. We are deeply honoured that Her Excellency, The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Patil, consented to inaugurate the complex and grace the occasion with her presence. The Foundation will continually strive to contribute towards the socio-economic development of the country through its upcoming projects."
The annadanam complex will be operational from July 7, 2011.
Since its inception, Raju Vegesna Foundation has done critical work in the area of providing safe, purified drinking water in several parts of Andhra Pradesh. The Foundation has also contributed significantly towards medical care and educational scholarships.
