LeasePlan Reinforces its Commitment to the Green Cause
Plants another 700 trees in Gurgaon

New Delhi, Delhi, India, Wednesday, July 20, 2011 -- (Business Wire India) -- LeasePlan India, the country's largest operational leasing company, has launched a plantation drive in Meoka. A small village with a population of about 450 people, Meoka is located on the Gurgaon- Pataudi road, Haryana. As a part of the initiative, LeasePlan undertook the plantation of over 700 trees on an acre of land close to the village school.

The plantation, which has been undertaken in collaboration with Advit Foundation, is a novel step to protect the environment by reducing the carbon levels. The most remarkable feature of this initiative is participation of the local communities who would also be responsible for the upkeep of the plants in the village.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sanjeev Prasad, Managing Director, LeasePlan India, said "We cherish the vision of safeguarding the environment for the future generations. Through this initiative, our endeavour has been to empower the local community by making them an important link in environmental conservation. This is in line with the cmpany's broader goal of practicing and promoting self-sustaining processes and welfare activities for social, economic and environmental development."

LeasePlan has been undertaking green initiatives since 2009 as a part of its global corporate social responsibility called GreenPlan. The first plantation drive was launched in Gurgaon with the planting of about 1000 trees, followed by Mumbai with another 1000 trees. With a strong belief that companies can, and should, play a vital role in the reduction of carbon emissions and other greenhouse effects, LeasePlan is committed to plant a tree for every car that it puts on road.
