IILM Distinguished Global Thinker Award 2011 conferred upon Prof Andre Beteille


New Delhi, Delhi, India, Monday, July 11, 2011 -- (Business Wire India) -- IILM Institute for Higher Education hosted its sixth Distinguished Global Thinker Award at Lodhi Road campus on July 7, 2011. The award was conferred upon Prof Andre Beteille, Professor of Sociology at the Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, followed by his lecture on "Government and Opposition".

IILM instituted The Global Thinker Award in 2006 to get engaged with the global academic community as well as to provide a forum for policy debate on issues of international importance. The institute initiates an annual award to honour an internationally reputed leader for his/her academic achievements.

Prahalad, Lord Meghnad Desai and Dr. Shashi Tharoor who addressed the gathering on issues of international concern such as 'Is Democracy Exportable?', 'Achieving a Hunger Free India: The Challenges before us', 'Democratizing Commerce: The Challenge for the 21st Century' and 'Our Troubled Times', 'Challenges of Global Governance: An Indian Perspective' in their lectures at IILM.
