Red Hat Strengthens its Focus in India with Executive Appointments
Names New Country General Manager and Director of Enterprise Sales

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Tuesday, February 01, 2011 -- (Business Wire India) -- Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world's leading provider of open source solutions, today announced that it has strengthened its India operations with two key executive appointments, further reaffirming its commitment to deliver innovation to enable Indian businesses, telcos and government agencies to take advantage of the current shifts in the datacenter around virtualization and cloud computing. Red Hat appointed Anuj Kumar as the new Country General Manager and Jagjit Singh Arora as Director, Enterprise Sales.

Anuj Kumar, a Red Hat veteran of more than ten years, will oversee Red Hat's India operations from a strategic and sales perspective. With a penchant for establishing and nurturing new sales set-ups in the United States and the Middle East and Africa regions, Kumar brings extensive experience to India. In his previous role as General Manager, Red Hat Middle East and Africa, Kumar was responsible for expanding the business in that region, growing Red Hat's regional partner network to 300 resellers. An open source enthusiast, Kumar has championed the open source movement across the Middle East and Africa by closely working with the open source communities, evangelists and policy makers.

Kumar holds an Executive Management degree from Chicago GSB's CMI Institute and an Engineering Degree from Birla Institute of Technology, India.

The other significant appointment is Jagjit Singh Arora as Director, Enterprise Sales. Prior to his move to Red Hat, Arora was Global Client Director at Datacraft India Ltd (A Dimension Data Group Company). He has more than 14 years of strong IT industry experience with stints at IBM, NetApp, Xerox Corp, and CMS Computers in the past. He holds a post graduate degree in Management specializing in Marketing & Finance.

"India is extremely strategic in our global growth story. With these appointments, Red Hat has underlined its India focus and its commitment to the market," said Dirk-Peter van Leeuwen, vice president, Red Hat Asia Pacific. "Over the past six months, we have experienced heightened interest in our virtualization and cloud computing technologies. As a strategic provider of cloud infrastructure to our customers, our flexible cloud stack enables customers to build and run applications across physical servers, virtual platforms, private cloud and public clouds."

"Open source has seen solid traction with enterprises in India. Not only has the Indian Government been at the forefront of adopting open source technologies, but Indian enterprises too have been avid users of open source software for mission-critical purposes," noted Kumar. He adds, "India's strong engineering credentials has made it an active contributor to the open source development engine. We look forward to working with the community and enterprises to take open source development and adoption to the next level in India."
