Polycom® Chosen by Seventy-Four Per Cent of Forbes Asia Fab 50 Companies to Enhance Communication and Collaboration
New Delhi, Delhi, India, Tuesday, November 05, 2013 -- (Business Wire India) -- -- Polycom increases presence amongst top ranked companies in Asia, moving from 70 to 74 per cent on Forbes Asia Fab 50 list
-- India-based Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, a Forbes Asia Fab 50 company, demonstrates competitive advantages enabled by video collaboration
This year's prestigious Forbes Asia Fab 50 listing shows an increase in the number of top Asian companies using Polycom voice and video collaboration solutions for more effective collaboration. As the global leader in open, standards-based unified communications and collaboration (UC&C), Polycom now counts 74 per cent of the companies listed amongst its customers; an increase from 70 per cent of Forbes' 2012 list.
Published in August, The Asia Fab 50 now in its ninth year is created by Forbes through analysis of a pool of 1,220 companies with at least $3 billion in revenue or market capitalisation. This year's list features 50 companies based in 11 Asia Pacific countries, and of these 37 are Polycom customers. This figure has increased from last year's list that featured 35 Polycom customers. The rise also reflects the recent analysis presented by Wainhouse Research and Polycom that shows the use of video conferencing as an enterprise productivity tool is growing, with 94 per cent of video users saying that video collaboration increases productivity.
Twenty-two new companies made it onto this year's Forbes list and of the total 50 named, a regional spread of businesses are represented. Chinese companies dominate the overall list with 20 whilst 11 Indian companies are included. The other countries featured are Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
A diverse combination of industries is represented by the companies listed reflecting that the uptake of video as a tool for collaboration transcends the business spectrum. Video is used to support day-to-day business functions such as staff, partner and customer meetings, training and recruitment, as well as a wide range of applications specific to company sectors and industries.
One Polycom customer featured in the Forbes Asia Fab 50 list this year is leading India-based global pharmaceutical company, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories. The company recently deployed several video-based solutions to improve its business processes. This includes enabling executives and employees across two major corporate offices in Hyderabad, India, and Bridgewater, New Jersey, USA to collaborate face-to-face via secure, high-definition video.
Atanu Roy, Chief Technical Officer at Dr. Reddy's said: "Our company's global demand for instant communication across distances, particularly between R&D teams to make decisions quickly, meant that we required more effective and efficient ways to collaborate. With Polycom video, we are getting the most comprehensive UC infrastructure that meets our needs to deliver wide-scale communications across the company, enabling our research and technical teams to meet across any distance and collaborate securely and instantly for vital consultation and decision-making."
Michael Alp, President of Polycom Asia Pacific said: "The continued prevalence of our customers in this year's Asia Fab 50 list demonstrates the forward-thinking strategies they are employing to do business in the region and globally. Video collaboration is the new way of working in a mobile, social, and global world. Businesses are gaining their competitive advantage by building a strong unified communications and collaboration strategy that includes voice, video and content sharing."
To help business drive more effective use of video collaboration, Polycom recently launched Polycom's Guide to Collaborating Across Borders, an insightful new resource designed to help readers understand the nuances of doing business across the globe. This guide is one of several new resources for business leaders across almost every enterprise function - from IT to HR to the C-suite - to learn how video collaboration can help them defy distance and achieve their goals more quickly and efficiently.

Arbor Networks Acquires Security Analytics Innovator Packetloop
Integrates Global Threat Intelligence, Analysis, Traffic & Trend Reports,
Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Tuesday, November 05, 2013 -- (Business Wire India) -- Arbor Networks Inc. announced today that it has acquired privately held Packetloop, an innovator and leader in the field of Security Analytics. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Arbor plans to invest in and expand Packetloop's Sydney, Australia-based operations.
Packetloop's solution delivers real-time, network-wide situational awareness through a combination of packet capture, big data analytics, security forensics and visualizations that help enterprises identify malware, targeted attacks and attackers. Packetloop's capabilities complement Arbor's market leading NetFlow visibility, anomaly detection, application intelligence and identity tracking. Arbor will integrate Packetloop's capabilities into its enterprise solution platform this year, delivering a broad, integrated set of network visibility; threat detection and mitigation; incident response; and forensics capabilities that become the foundation of Arbor's next-generation threat monitoring and mitigation platform.
"The Packetloop technology and people are a great addition to the Arbor team. They bring tremendous insight and knowledge in applying security analytics to the advanced threat landscape. They have developed a really innovative and powerful solution that brings context to data, quickly, and in a meaningful way for those who need it," said Arbor Networks President Colin Doherty.
"Arbor shares our belief that detection is the key, prevention is the goal and it all starts with great visibility. We also believe that data without context is meaningless," said Packetloop co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Scott Crane. "Arbor is a successful and well-established company, yet they still have the heart of a startup, an innovator, a disruptor. They're continuously pushing the envelope. That type of environment, with their people and technology, is a great fit for Packetloop."
"Arbor is building a network security and analytics platform that goes far beyond DDoS detection and mitigation," said John Grady, research manager for Security Products at IDC. "Adding a big data security analytics and forensics platform like Packetloop's makes sense as they extend into the broader advanced threat market. Arbor now has a unique combination of NetFlow, packet capture and global threat intelligence from their ATLAS infrastructure to address today's dynamic threats that evade signature-based solutions."
Packetloop Solution Overview
Today, Packetloop's solution is delivered as a Cloud platform that anyone can use at any time. Customers upload and analyze their own packet captures, finally unlocking the power of Security Analytics in the Cloud with an ease of use that has evaded traditional approaches. Packetloop has also developed an on-premise, real-time network solution that consists of prepackaged Virtual Machines and hardware appliances. The on-premise solution will connect the customer to the Cloud for real-time processing to complement the historical forensic capabilities of the Cloud solution. Arbor plans to integrate the on-premise solution with its enterprise solution platform.
Real-time Advanced Threat Detection
-- Unmasks advanced threats through profiling and monitoring through real-time packet capture and historical analytics over long time periods
-- Identifies on-going malicious or abnormal network behavior as well as data exfiltration attempts
-- One solution for all networks. Detects attacks in any network infrastructure, from on premise corporate networks to any Cloud implementation and any combination of both
Threat Analysis (Incident Response & Forensics)
-- Scales to terabytes of data, ideal for Arbor's large enterprise customers
-- Provides in-depth traffic analysis and visualizations, giving users the ability to Play, Pause and Rewind network data and to view attacks and attackers from different perspectives
-- Enables security and network teams to perform incident response and forensic analysis

Eisai Begins Free Supply of Diethylcarbamazine in Line with its Global Commitment to Eliminate Lymphatic Filariasis
FIRST SHIPMENT TO BENEFIT MORE THAN 6 MILLION PEOPLE IN 4 ENDEMIC COUNTRIES
New Delhi, Delhi, India, Tuesday, November 05, 2013 -- (Business Wire India) -- Eisai Pharmatechnology & Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd. (Headquarters: Visakhapatnam, President and Managing Director: Sanjit Singh Lamba) announced here today that it has begun the free supply of Diethylcarbamazine Citrate (DEC) 100 mg tablets produced at its Visakhapatnam Plant in India to the World Health Organization (WHO). This is in line with Eisai's commitment to help WHO in its global effort to eliminate lymphatic filariasis in targeted developing and emerging countries.
The Pacific island nations of Papua New Guinea, Kiribati, Tuvalu and Fiji have been confirmed as the first countries to receive the initial shipment. An estimated 6.25 million people1 living in at-risk communities will benefit from mass drug administration (MDA) programs.
Eisai is an active partner and signatory to the London Declaration, a global public-private partnership that aims to eliminate ten neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), including lymphatic filariasis, by 2020. As part of its commitment to this global initiative, Eisai has agreed to supply 2.2 billion DEC tablets to WHO for use in national MDA programs, free of cost.
Lymphatic filariasis, commonly known as elephantiasis, is a parasitic disease that is transmitted to humans by the bite of a mosquito. Once transmitted, it can cause lymphatic dysfunction and lead to serious manifestations such as lymphoedema, causing painful and disfiguring manifestations of the disease. Currently, an estimated 120 million people are already affected and more than 1.4 billion people are at risk of this disease, globally. High-quality DEC (one of the drugs used to treat lymphatic filariasis) is in short supply worldwide and is not easily accessible to at-risk populations in lymphatic filariasis-endemic countries. This poses a major obstacle for eliminating the disease.
Having started the production of DEC at its Visakhapatnam Plant in India in August 2013, Eisai has now begun to provide a steady supply of DEC tablets over a seven-year period from 2013 to 2020 for distribution through WHO's MDA programs to some 250 million people living in at-risk communities in 26 targeted countries2.
Eisai believes that contributing to the improvement of global health and access to medicines in developing countries is a form of long-term investment that contributes to the economic growth of these countries. The company remains actively committed to addressing overall issues in global health, including NTDs, in order to further increase the benefits provided to patients and their families worldwide.
Eisai Knowledge Centre at Visakhapatnam, a part of Eisai´s global manufacturing and research network, is a global supply hub for increasing access to medicine at affordable prices. The integrated manufacturing facility at Visakhapatnam, supplies high quality Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients and Oral Solid Dosage products globally, including Japan. The facility has approvals from USFDA, MHRA, WHO Geneva, PMDA Japan, Korean FDA etc. The Research Centre has highly qualified and skilled research scientists who work on the most advanced research and analytical equipment, contributing to the development of the new chemical entities for meeting the unmet medical needs.
The Eisai site in Visakhapatnam was awarded by International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) as Facility of the Year award-2012 in the best project execution category. Eisai Visakhapatnam is the only facility in India to have won this prestigious international award from ISPE.

1. About Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs)
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), NTDs blight the lives of more than 1 billion of the world's poorest 2.4 billion people. There are 149 countries and territories where NTDs are endemic, at least 100 of which are endemic for 2 or more of these diseases, and 30 countries and territories of which are endemic for 6 or more. These diseases not only survive and spread in conditions of poverty but also anchor large populations in poverty.
(NTDs designated by WHO for control or elimination: Buruli ulcer, Chagas disease,cysticercosis/taeniasis, dengue/severe dengue, dracunculiasis (guinea-worm disease), echinococcosis, food-borne trematodiases, human African trypanosomiasis, the leishmaniases, leprosy, lymphatic filariasis, onchocerciasis, rabies, schistosomiasis, soil-transmittedhelminthiases, trachoma, and yaws)
2. About Lymphatic Filariasis
Lymphatic filariasis is a parasitic disease that is transmitted to humans by the bite of a mosquito. Once transmitted, it can cause lymphatic dysfunction. While infection is usually acquired during childhood, symptoms often gradually appear over several years, with the most serious manifestations of the disease occurring in adulthood. One of the most serious manifestations, known as elephantiasis, is a permanent physical disability in which a patient's lower extremities swell to resemble those of an elephant. In addition to impacting on a patient's ability to perform everyday tasks, it historically has led to many patients falling victim to social persecution due to biases against the disease. As such, patients and their families may also suffer much emotional distress. Today, lymphatic filariasis affects an estimated 120 million people in 73 countries worldwide, most of whom live in developing and emerging countries in Africa, Southeast Asia and other tropical regions. In Japan, the disease is confirmed to have existed since the Heian period (794-1184), but was successfully eliminated in the late 1970s as a result of initiatives begun roughly ten years earlier by the Japanese government in partnership with the public-private sector, with Japan subsequently becoming the first country in the world to successfully eliminate lymphatic filariasis.
3. About the London Declaration on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs)
On January 30, 2012, the CEOs of 13 major global pharmaceutical companies, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the U.K. Department for International Development, the World Bank, and officials from NTD-endemic countries gathered in London to pledge their support for a coordinated effort to combat ten NTDs* by 2020. In signing the London Declaration on Neglected Tropical Diseases, each of the partner companies and organizations also pledged new levels of commitment to defeating these diseases.
The London Declaration represents the largest coordinated effort to date, and unlike past approaches undertaken by an individual organization or for a single disease, the group has committed itself to working collaboratively in an effort to comprehensively tackle issues pertaining to drug supply, distribution, development, implementation programs, and other areas as it seeks to more effectively combat NTDs.
