At its 83rd Board Meeting held on April 29, 2011, the Board of Directors of Infrastructure Development Finance Company Limited (IDFC) approved financial results for the period April 01, 2010 to March 31, 2011 and recommended Dividend at the rate of ` 2.00 per equity share for FY 2011.

INCOME

-- Net Interest Income (NII) increased by 47% from ` 1,117 crore in FY 2010 to ` 1,645 crore in FY 2011.

- Net Interest Income (NII) from infrastructure loans increased by 47% from ` 1,021 crore in FY 2010 to ` 1,501 crore in FY 2011.
- Net Interest Income from treasury operations increased by 49% from ` 96 crore in FY 2010 to ` 144 crore in FY 2011.


-- Non Interest Income decreased by 8% from ` 950 crore in FY 2010 to ` 875 crore in FY 2011.

- Fees from IDFC's asset management business decreased by 20% from ` 362 crore in FY 2010 to ` 291 crore in FY 2011.
- Income from Investment banking and broking activity increased by 9% from ` 183 crore in FY 2010 to ` 199 crore in FY 2011.

Wipro Unveils Lab in Bellevue to Test Unified Communications Solutions

Wipro's testing facility will provide faster time to market to companies developing telephony infrastructure solutions on Microsoft's Unified Communication platforms.

The product development cycle for telephony infrastructure solutions involves a testing period of 3-4 weeks. Wipro's collaboration with Microsoft and Wipro's testing facility providing both pre-qualification and qualification testing services will help unified communication solution providers speed up product testing by around 50 percent. Wipro's Pre-Qualification Program can help the vendor assess the product's compliance towards the interoperability qualification. Changes required can be identified early on in the product lifecycle allowing quick turnaround for the interoperability qualification.

Wipro's Bellevue testing facility will use Microsoft's well-defined and focused testing procedures to independently test products submitted by manufacturers across the globe. Uflex Ltd, the Bombay Stock Exchange (UFLEX: 500148) and NSE listed, India's largest flexible packaging company closed the financial year ended March 31, 2011 on a strong note registering an exponential growth of 266% increase in its consolidated net profit at Rs. 695 crore as against Rs. 190 crore for the corresponding period last year, on the back of strong demand trends globally and increasing manufacturing capacities across its facilities in Egypt, Mexico, Dubai and India.

For the Financial Year ended March 31, 2011, UFlex recorded net revenue at Rs.3410 crore compared Rs.2314 crore in the same period in previous fiscal, up by 47%.

Expansion Plans

Uflex recently initiated the setting up of a new plant for manufacturing of 30,000 MTs of polyester film at Poland. The company will set up the plant in Wrzesnia in Poland with an investment of $80 million (around Rs 360 crore), which is expected to be operationalised by June 2012.

The Company has recently announced plans to invest Rs 380-crore to set up a polyester films plant in Kentucky, US with an annual capacity of 30,000 metric tonnes. The US facility will start production by December 2012.

In Mexico, the company is implementing expansion of PET film capacity by 30000 TPA which is expected to be completed by June, 2011.

In Egypt, the Company is ramping up production capacities for BOPP films (Bi-axially Oriented Poly Propylene film) to 35,000 TPA; 30000TPA of PET (Polyester) and 12000TPA of CPP films aggregating to total capacity of 77,000 TPA. The company's planned investments in Egypt are pegged at US$ 135 million. This facility has trade pacts with GCC nations, Southern Europe & Africa, Middle East, West Asia and CIS to access larger markets.

The first phase of this expansion involving added capacities in BOPP films has already commenced operations, while the second phase of setting up facilities for PET and CPP films is expected to be completed by the 3rd quarter of FY 2011-12.

The sealed, rectangular SOLUTOR-HF head detects all magnetic and non-magnetic metal contaminants (steel, stainless steel, aluminium, ...) even when enclosed in the product. Excellent metal sensitivity is guaranteed throughout the complete inspection tunnel area. Compared with other brands, S+S has specifically improved the sensitivity to stainless steel in the SOLUTOR-HF, offering, as standard, three operating frequencies (low, medium, high) thus increasing its suitability for use in packaging and food industry applications.

In redesigning the RAYCON concept S+S focused on sophisticated, proven X-ray technology and on components manufactured in house and from local suppliers. This ensures that Raycon X-ray systems meet the high quality demanded by food and packaging industry users. The addition of the S+S proven, modular conveyor belt systems means complete flexibility for the huge variation of products and applications.

S+S RAYCON product inspection system will consistently and precisely detect a multitude of contaminants such as magnetic and non-magnetic metals, glass, ceramics, stones, raw bones, and some types of plastics, even when products are packaged in aluminium or other metallic foils. Schönberg, Germany, Friday, April 29, 2011 -- (Business Wire India) -- The plastics industry continues to struggle with rapidly rising raw material prices. As a result there is an increased pressure to use recycled material for which waste and rejected plastics are very well suited for reuse in many production processes. This, however, demands proper recycling of the original plastic materials to produce secondary raw materials of appropriate quality.

The processing of recycled plastics starts with size reduction but recycled product can still contain metal contaminants which must be removed to prevent damage to downstream processing equipment as well as ensure a quality recycled product. S+S metal detectors will detect magnetic and non-magnetic metal contaminants, wherever they are in the product, and prevent such damage. S+S metal detectors and separators are used both for in-house recycling and in specialised recycling plants. Whether for in house rejects or recycled waste plastics the process is the same and feedstock is shredded or reground before being added back into the production cycle. V3 ENGINEERS wins infringement case lodged by WIPRO CGLG


Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Thursday, April 28, 2011 -- (Business Wire India) -- V3 ENGINEERS PVT LTD, one of India's largest Modular Furniture Manufacturers has won a case against Wipro CGLG. Wipro CGLG had filed a case last month against V3, on alleged infringement of their designs.

Commenting on this, R Guru Prasad, Director - Finance and Administration at V3, said, "The product design highlighted by Wipro is completely different from the design adopted by V3. V3 has been manufacturing several such products since 2005, that is three years prior to the date of registration of design by Wipro. We've never resorted to copying any company's design.

"We have been using the `contentious' designs for the 15 years and we've indigenously designed and manufactured over 300 products."

"WIPRO was in fact a customer to V3 till the year 2005 and over 10000 work stations have been installed in their units across divisions."

"It was surprising when Wipro filed a case against us. Though we are aware that IP is not that strong in India, we will never indulge in infringement activities. We are an ethical company and abide to the laws of the country."

"We are active members of AFMI, a forum to which major furniture manufacturers are members to. They could have sought a redressal by this forum."

V3's Senior Counsel Mr. Hari Holla said "The judge noticed by examining documents, designs and manufactured products by V3 that there are no visible similarities or similarities in materials used; the design, cross sections and construction shape of the legs and dismissed the suit with costs in favour of V3."

The judge categorically quoted "In order that there may be 'Novelty', so as to sustain a patent, the thing must not have been known to anyone before, mere novelty of form being insufficient".

"In order to attract infringement, there must be deceptive similarities. If the designs are not distinctly similar in the eye of the customer, there is no question of infringement".

The courts held that there is no prima facie case against V3 ENGINEERS and vacated the temporary injunction granted earlier.

In dollar terms, Total income grew by 26% to USD 354 million from USD 280 million and Profit after Tax (PAT) grew by 38% Y-o-Y to USD 44 million from USD 32 million.

The Board of Directors recommended a dividend of Rs 4.50 per share (90%) on the equity share capital of the company for fiscal 2011.
