Cancer Patients Suffer Due to Non Availability of Drugs: HCG

Bangalore, Karnataka, India

HealthCare Global Enterprises Ltd, The Specialist in Cancer Care, organized a press conference on the topic cancer patients suffer due to non availability of drugs.

According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), pharmaceutical companies in developing countries are increasingly falsifying data about the quality of their medicines.  Indian producers in particular strive to reduce costs by substituting cheaper ingredients or skimping on good manufacturing practice, and often patients and well-informed pharmacists alike will overlook the flaws.

The problem that both the cancer care provider and the patients suffer and have to battle is the quality of the drugs available in India. There is an ongoing battle between the government and drug manufacturers. It is the patients and doctors who ultimately get caught in this unfortunate cross fire. Facing this problem, patients and doctors have no choice but to continue in despair and hope that there would be a change for the better in future. The question that needs to be addressed is India losing out on becoming a potential hub for healthcare destination due to this battle?

Dr. B S Ajaikumar Chairman, HCG - The specialist in Cancer Care says “The battle against cancer is an ongoing one, support from all sections is the need of the hour to strengthen the fight & emerge victorious. It is sad to know that India which is considered as healthcare destination by many developing & developed countries does not have access to many new generation drugs which will make a big difference in the medical outcome. Short sighted policies leave the doctor & patient in the lurch of a cross fire. Innovation develops better medical outcomes and we need to embrace this.

Dr. Radheshayam, Head Bone Marrow Transplant, HCG - The specialist in Cancer Care added “New generation drugs that are available presently in most countries help in getting a curative outcome. It is rather unfortunate that these drugs are not available in India and is turning out be rather a bane than a boon to clinicians since we are not able to provide the best in care with rest of the world.”

Dr. Srinivas B J, Consultant Medical Oncology, HCG - The specialist in Cancer Care says “We are lacking new generation drugs since 3 years. This due to stop on Clinical Trials and this has made our fight against cancer little outdated.”
