The Indian Institute of Welding (IIW), on the occasion of 8th Weld India Expo 2014 held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi conferred Dr. S. Ramadorai -Chairman of National Skill Development Corporation (Govt. of India) & Vice Chairman- TCS with ‘Life Time Excellence Award’ for his dedication and contribution in Manpower & Skill development.
P. K. Das, President (The Indian Institute of Welding-Established: 1966) urged Dr. S. Ramadorai, Chairman of National Skill Development Corporation and also the chief guest at The International Congress of The Indian welding Association to act in haste to ensure that the robust growth projected in Infrastructure is not stalled by shortage of skilled professionals. Over 100 international experts on Welding have assembled in Delhi to share their knowledge with Indian Welding professionals over the next 3 days at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
Dr. S.Ramadorai while accepting the ‘Life Time Excellence Award’ of IIW-India assured all help from the Indian Government in ensuring that skill up gradation of ordinary welders will be prioritized and Skill Development Institutions in Welding will receive the necessary Government Support for the same.
President P K Das added “Job opportunities in Manufacturing & Welding must match career opportunities offered by Software, Internet & Telecommunications sectors.”
At the Concurrent Weld India Expo 2014 equipment and consumable manufacturers from USA, European Union, Japan & China, are expected to showcase new generation automated welding technology which integrates with the production lines reducing power consumption and the welding time by upto 50%, enabling savings of 20% to 30 % in average welding costs and recovery of investment in a short span of around 40 months.
R Srinivasan Vice President (IIW – India) clarified that “The Weld India 2014 will continue at Pragati Maidan in Delhi upto 12th April 2014 and is expected to be attended by around 20,000 visitors comprising of Indian Fabricators, Scientists, Welding Professionals and students.
