Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Friday, June 21, 2013 -- (Business Wire India) -- With an aim to leverage the thriving ecosystem of entrepreneurs in India, Startup City, the country's largest event for startups is back.

Startup City 2013 is an open platform for the startups to showcase their innovative technology, meet potential investors, business partners and customers.

To be held on June 22, 2013 at the Nimhans Convention Center, Bangalore, the event will see 80 startup companies from across the country, over 20 VCs and 300 CEOs.

The startups will not only exhibit themselves in their respective booths but will also get the opportunity to present and pitch about their company and their intriguing products and business to an audience comprising of top venture firms in the country and business heads of large enterprises. Apart from these, startups looking for financial support can have one on one meeting with the venture capitalists.

The attending startups range from varied business domains such as software, services, Internet, mobile and more. Also present at the event will be multinationals such as Microsoft, Intel, Tally, Intuit, BlackBerry and Forum Nokia who have partnered to support the participating companies under their startup programs.

One can watch live product demonstrations and get a peek into cutting edge technologies, lay hands on the best-of-breed solutions and meet young, energetic, passionate geeks at the event. Attendees can also experience the culture of innovation in small companies and listen to Visionary Keynotes and In-depth Panel Discussions.

Chetan Maini, the man who built India's first electric car, Reva will be present at the StartupCity. As a young boy growing up in Bangalore, cars defined his world. He has transported his spiffy electric car, Reva, from green-street to mainstream. Can his efforts help India into becoming the global hub for the green car movement? Meet him and find out.

You can also get to hear inspiring stories from the founders of CricInfo, Printo, Yebhi.com, Jabong, The Mobile Store, Via.com, Dezyre.com, Gaadi.com, Magzter, Spice Labs, Eterno Infotech, TechAhead, MAIA Intelligence, GoFrugal Technologies, PK4 Software Technologies and many more on how they built their startups.

Talking about the drive behind holding such a unique event, Harvi Sachar, Founder and Chairman of SiliconIndia says, "The number of startups in India has been growing at a phenomenal rate. Unlike the free ecosystem that entrepreneurs enjoy in the U.S., the life of an entrepreneur is very tough here. From reaching out to a VC to gaining a customer, there are no clear channels that an entrepreneur can follow. Startups often have to make use of a third party or middleman who helps them to meet a potential VC. On the contrary, in the U.S. an entrepreneur can easily reach out to a VC through a trusted network of references. This drove us to organize an event such as Startup City, which not only bridges this gap but also provides an open platform for the startups to interact with VCs and look for probable customers. Startup City is a one stop shop for the different needs a startup."
