VayuGrid at UN's Conference on Sustainable Development
Bangalore based VayuGrid leads discussion on "Enabling Green and Inclusive Markets" at Rio20+ at Rio de Janeiro
Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Tuesday, June 19, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- Bangalore based VayuGrid was selected to join world leaders convening in Rio de Janeiro in June 2012 for the United Nations Conference for Sustainable Development, referred to as Rio+20. VayuGrid will be hosted by the Donor Committee for Enterprise Development (DCED) during the United Nations Global Compact's Rio+20 Corporate Sustainability Forum.
VayuGrid is among the four Indian companies selected from India to lead the Forum's discussion on "Enabling Green and Inclusive Markets" on June 18th.
VayuGrid is focused on creating a supply chain footprint of VayuSap (Elite Pongamia) plantations in Africa, Asia and the Middle East to enable production of Pongamia Oil as a biofuel and as a sustainable alternative to diesel while simultaneously creating local ecosystem for long term sustainability and inclusive growth in rural areas.

Environmental: Create carbon sinks as a tradable commodity for industry from the plantations and from the biofuel generated from these plantations. In addition, these plantations will result in soil enrichment of arid land, besides producing organic fertilisers as a by-product, reducing dependencies on chemical fertilisers.
Economic: With these plantations, enable industry/governments to accelerate growth (capital and trade) and meet the carbon/GHG Commitments ar R20+ by trading in the perennial carbon sink, using biofuels as diesel replacement in areas such as mass transportation, agriculture productivity and distributed power generation, create local growth opportunities, and of course, conserving foreign exchange.
