Thought Provoking Workshop-Based Congress stimulated Visionary Thinking by focusing on 'Global Mega Trends' and 'TechVision 2020'

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Monday, February 20, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- Frost & Sullivan just concluded their 3rd Annual Flagship Congress - GIL 2012: Middle East, The Global Community of Growth, Innovation and Leadership at Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, U.A.E. The Congress that witnessed participation from senior level delegates across industries saw Frost & Sullivan Growth consultants/thought leaders guiding them through the Journey to Visionary Innovation through thought provoking sessions that set the stage for solution-based interactive workshops that followed.

The Congress began with a Keynote presentation by Aroop Zutshi, Global President and Managing Partner, Frost & Sullivan, who set the stage for visionary thinking by sharing his insights on 'The Journey to Visionary Innovation'. In his keynote speech, he enlightened the significance of leveraging innovation to survive in the future business environment. Where Innovation comes from, how to nurture it, what do companies need to do today, were some of the key questions he addressed through his session.

He was followed by Dorman Followwill, Partner and Director, EIA, Frost & Sullivan, who supported the vision shared by Aroop with the Mega Trends Projections (part of Frost & Sullivan's Visionary Innovation Research Program) specifically for Middle East and their impact on Companies, Careers and Industries. This set the stage for the interactive workshop wherein delegates were grouped as per the industries they related to, namely, Defense, Energy, Environment, Healthcare, Information and Communication Technologies, Metals, Specialty Chemicals, Supply Chain and Logistics. The workshop focused on learning how to leverage interactive tools to understand opportunities/threats arising out of future Mega Trends and to prepare contingency plans based on probable scenarios, prioritise seeking future new customers based on emerging Mega Trends in new geographies, emerging economies, and new attitudes and preferences of consumers. The workshop also focused on aligning future Mega Trends with the current vision and strategy and aligning current strategy to the expected accelerating change in future technology and needs of the "Customer of the Future". The objective of the program was to adopt a Macro to Micro methodology of applying Mega Trends and help companies realise innovation opportunities.

"It is important for companies in the Middle East to understand the global forces that are driving change. They also need to understand the risks involved, if they do not gear themselves for this change today. Through the workshops, it is our effort to get the companies to think beyond, take into account the technologies and innovation that we will witness by 2020, and thereafter develop an implementable growth strategy. " says Y. S Shashidhar, Managing Director, Frost & Sullivan, Middle East and North Africa.
