The contest will be held in Kanha National Park from January 26-29, 2012

New Delhi, Delhi, India, Tuesday, November 08, 2011 -- (Business Wire India) -- Building on the success of the last two years, Nature Wanderers and Canon, today announced the launch of the 3rd edition of the "Canon Wild Clicks" contest for serious amateur photographers across India. The contest, due to be held at Kanha National Park (January 26-29, 2012), is also supported by well known brands in the photography and wildlife space, namely, Earth Matters Foundation, Sanctuary Asia and Camps of India. The contest is unique in nature, being the only LIVE photography contest in India, held over a period of 4 days. The empanelled judges in the 3rd edition of the contest are Mike Pandey and Ganesh H Shankar (please find their profiles enclosed in the notes to editor section below)

Speaking about the contest, Shivang Mehta, Managing Director, Nature Wanderers, says, "The contest has been popular with wildlife enthusiasts and amateur photographers over the last two years as it provides the opportunity to showcase their photography skills in a unique setting and provides a level playing field for all participants. The contest is all about being sensitive to moments in the wild." He further added, "The contest is a one-of-its kind platform for numerous talented & budding photographers across India to come together and compete, exchange ideas, meet their mentors, and most importantly discover their potential in different settings, that they might not have experimented with individually, thus far."

This annual live photography contest was designed to test the mental, physical and creative endurance of amateur photographers. The participants will be judged across 5 broad themes:

-- Birds
-- Mammals & Reptiles
-- Landscapes
-- Macros & Nature Abstracts
-- Impact of Tourism

With no restrictions on equipment, identical shooting conditions and live judgment - the participants will not only showcase their talent but also stand a chance to bag prizes which even includes a brand new Canon 7D among a host of others!

The four-day contest will begin with the announcement of themes following which participants will be taken out for a nature walk to familiarize them with their surrounding flora and fauna. The next day will include a full day safari in Kanha National Park under the guidance of naturalists and team of Nature Wanderers. All participants will be guided on how to make effective utilization of time while shooting on the field. This will be followed by evening discussion sessions with Mike Pandey, Ganesh H Shankar and Shivang Mehta. The last day of the contest will host an award ceremony where the theme winners and the contest winner will be announced.

Ganesh H. Shankar
