Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India, Thursday, October 13, 2011 -- (Business Wire India) -- "Company Secretaries are innovative cross functional professionals' said B L Joshi, Hon'ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh while inaugurating the 39th National Convention of Company Secretaries here today. While highlighting the changing role of company secretary, he spoke at length about transparency, disclosure, ethics etc., He also spoke about inclusive growth, sustainable business model through innovation, etc. He said that the enthusiasm that is being shown by the Company Secretaries shows their commitment towards growth. He appreciated the theme paper, a comprehensive one and congratulated the ICSI for the pioneer work and for choosing this theme.

He appreciated the book 'DNA of Integrity' published by the ICSI and said it applies to not only Company Secretaries but to all peoples of society as well. He further said that in the new era of systematic innovation it is important for the professionals to be cross functionally excellent and stressed on the importance of adaptability that would help us to respond to changes without being paralysed with fear and uncertainty.

While concluding, he advised the company secretaries to keep their upward move constantly, contest the challenging situations, adhere to professional values and ethics.

Amit K. Sen, Managing Director, East India Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in his key note address talked about developing a right perspective and attitude to respond to dynamic business environment to become innovative professional. He talked about making blue ocean strategies to make the competition irrelevant and also about reverse innovation, adapting existing solution using low cost technology etc. He advised company secretaries not to benchmark themselves with their competitors because it limits their competency to go beyond that level and also to explore new areas and to create new markets for themselves.

Anil Murarka, President, the ICSI said that the Convention theme is interesting and relevant in the context of change, growth, competition and said the professionals are required to convert problems into resources for which determination, willingness, devotion of time, etc. are essential.

Nesar Ahmad, Vice President, the ICSI while introducing the theme of the Convention, referred to the next level economic reforms and the strength of Indian economy and emphasised the importance of innovative professionalism.

Harish K Vaid, Council Member, The ICSI Chairman, Convention organizing committee in his welcome address reiterated the fact that time assumes sharp discontinuity as the speed of change intensifies and that demands creative and innovative skills for sustainability and excellence of any field and emphasized the importance of cross functional excellence and innovation.

N K Jain Secretary & CEO in his concluding remarks and vote of thanks emphasized on the desire for innovation. While giving some corporate examples for innovation, he said that innovation is required by professional services firms too.
