"Education without Character Serves No Purpose" - Honourable Justice Shri. P. Jyothimani, High Court of Madras, said at Sri Sai Ram Engineering College's 12th Graduation Day
Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, Monday, April 18, 2011 -- (Business Wire India) -- "Education should mould youths of good character, as education without character serves no purpose. It is more important for the youth to achieve moral values, confidence and capability along with education to face challenges of the world honestly. Jyothimani, High Court of Madras, at Sri Sai Ram Engineering College's 12th Graduation Day held at its premises in West Tambaram, Chennai recently (17th April 2011).
While advising students to exploit the opportunities to be successful in life, he added "They must at the same time imbibe the qualities of responsibility and accountability with courage and conviction to give back the nation that has nurtured them. Unity in diversity is the specialty of our country. We Indians should respect human values and live in harmony amidst diversity creating an environment of equity and co-operation."
After delivering the Graduation Day address he conferred the degrees to the students.
MJF Ln Leo Muthu, Founder and Chairman of the College presiding over the function remarked, "though our country has advanced from the ages of using palm leaves to laptops and palmtops, we are not able to achieve 100% literacy. Ours is a country with about 121 crore population and about 7 crore and 21 lakh of it living in the state of Tamil Nadu. In this milieu of population explosion, educating the mass comes as foremost importance. In higher education, we have just touched the 12% mark and that too in the last five years from the 9% level. That is why our country witnesses a lot of changes in the education scenario to provide quality education. And our college is striving in these lines to produce educated citizens who are responsible as well.
Dr. C.V. Jayakumar, Principal of the College, delivered the welcome address. Shri. M. Vasu, Secretary, Shri. Sai Prakash Leo Muthu, Managing Trustee & Chief Executive Officer and Prof. V.R. Rajamanickam, Director of the College were the other dignitaries present.
In the year 2009-10, 449 under-graduate (UG) students and 134 post-graduate (PG) students (total of 583 students) appeared for the university exams of which 424 UG students and 132 PG students (total of 556 students) passed out with flying colors. The graduated batch has produced 43 University rank holders including 4 Gold Medalists. The Management honored the rank holders with gold coins and medals.
Noteworthy this time is that Sri Sai Ram Engineering College is the one and only institute that won the highest number of university gold medals among all the engineering colleges of the state.
University Gold Medalists of various disciplines include: Ms. S. Sankaralakshmi (I.C.E.), Mr. G. Raghavan (Mech.), Mr. H. Rajkumar (M.B.A.), Ms. S. Premalatha (M.E.).
In the current academic year 2010-11, about 52 companies including TCS, HCL, inautix, Techmahindra, Iflex, CTS, Infosys, Brakes India, Global Analytics, Mahindra & Mahindra, Titan, Saipem India, Ford, Saint Gobain, Nagarjuna Constructions and HDFC have recruited the students of the college. It is to be noted that the college has secured a placement record of close to 95% in the last 2 years.
The college also boasts of receiving research fund totaling to Rs. 1 crore from AICTE council, during the last two years.

Sri Sai Ram Engineering College was established in the year 1995 by MFJ. Ln. Leo Muthu, Chairman of Sapthagiri Educational Trust. Currently the college offers 8 under graduate engineering programs (Mechanical, Computer Science & Engineering, B.Tech IT, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Electronic and Instrumentation Engineering and Civil Engineering) and 3 post graduate engineering programs (Computer and Communication Engineering, Communication Systems, CAD-CAM).
