After a successful launch last year, Lean India Summit 2014 was back this year on 21st November marking an even grander success of the 2-day event held at the Royal Orchid hotel, Bangalore. Jointly opened by the volunteers and guests in a traditional Diya Lighting Ceremony, Lean India Summit stayed true to its theme of Lean for everyone. The conference captured the interest and participation from over 150 attendees representing the largest and most accomplished multinational companies of the world like Infosys, Microsoft, Yahoo, GE Healthcare, Cognizant, Honeywell, Intel, Societe Generale, Cisco and more. Sponsorship support from Intel and SolutionsIQ encouraged the event’s objective of exploring Lean in India and creating a community around it.
An initiative by SolutionsIQ, this event unlike other conferences was built by the practitioners and for the practitioners and had no profit motive. “This year Lean India Summit had a unique flavour of many Lean and Agile practitioners coming together and sharing their true stories in a setting that allows for small groups of people to interact.
With two years of success, the volunteering team of Lean India Summit now looks forward to an international Agile for Business conference next year where we will have business leaders to share and learn on doing business, agile financial models, making profit as agile delivery centres, contracting challenges and overcoming the offshore image customers perceive. Look forward to this event in 2015”, said Mr. Vibhu Srinivasan, Managing Director, SolutionsIQ India.
The two days offered an expanded line up of Talks, Cases, and Workshops from exceptional Lean and Agile practitioners.
This year the event featured the famous “Kaizen Camp” By Jim Benson and Tonianne DeMaria Barry. This was held in India for the first time and involved deep discussions in topics in lean, Kanban and other agile techniques. Please see www.KaizenCamp.com for more details.
Keynote speaker Jim Benson, Co-founder of Modus Cooperandi and co-author of the best seller book – Personal Kanban, gave an inspiring and a challenging address on striking a work-life balance where we live life well and do better work as well! Jim shared some very interesting stories from his life which he used to tell how important it was to focus in everything we do and how equally important it is to realise the humane factor of every story we create and tell and connect with.
The rest of the day gave way to a series of well- chosen talks and workshops that gave out deep insights and knowledge around Lean and Agile and also some great success stories of Lean Transformation
But beyond the program itself, at the very heart of the conference, was the opportunity to collaborate and share. Attendees from across the country gathered, many of them familiar from last year’s Lean India Summit, to meet with experts, followers and practitioners and leaders of Lean and Agile thinking. Lean India Summit acted as a platform to connect and grow around Lean thinking in India. It has, to lot of an extent, succeeded in leaving and enriching experience that will only lead way to individual successes and team growth.
The coming new year is going to witness many more events and meet ups that will focus on spreading Lean and Agile to push business value while making product building a more humane and sustainable process. So do keep in touch!
