EFY Expo 2012: Big Show, Bigger Business

New Delhi, Delhi, India, Tuesday, February 21, 2012 -- (Business Wire India) -- A powerful mix of seminars, conferences and summits running in parallel at the expo aimed to provide useful insights into the Indian electronics industry for the benefit of design engineers, manufacturers and senior decision makers alike.

Amidst the fear of global economic slowdown and depreciating rupee when everyone thought that organising an electronics exposition would be a bad idea, EFY proved the notion wrong. EFY Expo 2012 proved that Indian electronics industry knows the art of surviving and can flourish even in the worst situations.

The three-day affair took place at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The expo was hustling with activities on all days and also gave way to some serious business decisions, actualised by both the industry and their buyers.

With over 12,000 'worthy' footfall in three days, the event was a huge success. The expo saw happy exhibitors and satisfied visitors. Right from manufacturers, buyers to students, the expo attracted all kinds of people related to the electronics industry from different parts of the country.

Over 450 leading brands exhibited the best of their best technologies at Hall No. 11 of Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The three-day event offered business opportunities in various electronics sectors including components, semiconductors, test and measurement equipment, training and educational solutions, PCB manufacturers, electronics manufacturing service (EMS) providers, wire-wound components and electronics design houses.

Commenting on the choice of the companies present at the expo, Amin Ajmel, CEO, Sunrise Instruments Private Limited, said, "I would like to see more companies in automotive electronics but I think EFY Expo is great as it houses names like Millennium Semiconductors. Such brands should be retained for years to come."

Talking about the highlights of the show, Ajay Kaswani, partner, Emsons Radio Corporation, said, "The best part of the expo is the ambiance it provides. I like the overall presentation of the expo. I expect more Taiwanese companies to participate in the next year because this is one platform where Indian companies get to interact with foreign players."

A similar response was gathered from the exhibitors showcasing their technology at the exposition. Georg Jadelhauser, director, sales- Asia, Micronas, said, "The first objective was to be known to the Indian market. We had a really good time here, met many customers, engineers and decision-makers. The event proved to be really beneficial for us. Welcoming students for a full day entry (on the third day) was a very good idea. It is quite similar to expos held in Germany where Friday means students' day and they are allowed a full day entry where they interact and learn new things. Infrastructure, security and overall expo experience was really good, am very happy with it. The expo exceeded our expectation."

Commenting on the benefits of the expo for their company, Samarat Sah, applications engineer, National Instruments, said, "Our main objective was to get leads, build industry contacts so that we can sell our products more. From academics side, the expo exceeded our expectations and from the industry side also the response was good but the overall expo experience was overwhelming."

Not only the Indian exhibitors, but also the international exhibitors gained from the expo. Yim Hoi To, manager, Golden Jade Electronics Limited said that EFY Expo was a good experience. He added, "It is my second time at the EFY Expo. I find this expo better than other shows in India. I recommend this exhibition to my friends and would like to see them participating next time. Even though EFY is new to the expo segment, it has a legacy of 43 years in the industry, which in itself is a testimonial to the credibility of the brand. This expo provided me a good platform and business, which is a great way to begin the year."

Appreciating the unique concept of buyer-seller lounge at the expo, Nimish Buddhadev, operation head (India), Tayo Industrial Group Ltd said that the expo had been good for their company. He said, "The concept of buyer-seller lounge is an excellent idea. It gives both buyers and sellers a perfect platform to interact with each other and find right kind of business opportunities."

EFY Expo sent out the message that the Indian electronics industry has immense potential to boom..all it needs is appropriate opportunities like this one where the industry gets exposure and business too.
